Audio-Technica has introduced the ATH-R30x, a new model in its R-Series lineup. These open-back reference headphones are specifically designed for beginners, content creators, and home studio users. Priced at just €99, the ATH-R30x is currently the most affordable model in the series and is likely to attract interest not only in the audio sector but also among gamers.

Entry into the R-Series

With the ATH-R30x, Audio-Technica completes its open-back R-Series, which previously consisted of the versatile midrange ATH-R50x and the new flagship ATH-R70xa. The R30x offers an affordable entry-level model while remaining true to the series' core values, which include natural sound reproduction, a large soundstage, and high transparency.

These features could be particularly well-received in the gaming community. The open enclosure and wide stereo soundstage make the ATH-R30x ideal for games with spatial sound design, such as esports or story-driven titles with cinematic audio.

Open design for realistic sound

Like the larger models, the ATH-R30x also features an open enclosure concept. According to the manufacturer, the 40 mm drivers deliver an airy, precise soundstage that largely requires no sound-altering damping or tuning.

This creates a very direct, unadulterated listening impression that is suitable for both music production and critical listening in the multimedia sector.

Comfort for long sessions

Weighing just 210 grams, with an adjustable headband and soft velour cushioning, the ATH-R30x promises high levels of comfort even during long sessions. The open, breathable design prevents heat buildup and ensures comfortable wear for hours.

The headphones come with a permanently attached cable with a 3,5 mm jack plug, and a 6,3 mm adapter for studio equipment is also included.
