Antigravity A1: First details on the 8K 360° drone with grip controller

Published by Timo Altmeyer on the 14. August 2025

A few days ago, we had the teaser, and now the Antigravity A1 has been officially unveiled. The drone films in 8K 360 degrees, weighs 249 grams, and, thanks to Vision Goggles and a Grip Controller, separates viewing from flying. Market launch is planned for January 2026. Prices and bundles to follow.

Construction without gimbal

Instead of a traditional gimbal, the A1 uses two built-in ultra-wide-angle lenses, one above and one below the body. The shots are stitched together in real time, with the drone body removed from the image. This "invisible drone" technology is similar to that used in Insta360 action cameras, but here it's optimized for flight, allowing the viewing direction to be controlled independently of the flight path.

Recording takes place in 8K resolution across the entire image area. Antigravity has not yet released any information on sensor size, data rate, supported codecs, dynamic range, or battery life. In post-production, camera movements can be simulated, perspectives changed, or multiple versions of the same flight can be created, including well-known 360° effects like "Tiny Planet" or "Horizon Flip."

Control by hand movement

The A1 is flown with a grip controller that senses wrist movements. A trigger controls forward flight, while lateral or vertical movements are implemented by tilting or lifting the controller.

The Vision glasses provide a 360° live image that follows your line of sight using head tracking. Antigravity calls this system FreeMotion. It decouples the line of sight from the direction of flight, allowing you to, for example, look past objects from the side while the drone flies straight ahead. While this concept is unusual for experienced FPV users, it significantly reduces the barrier to entry for beginners, as precise control with two sticks isn't necessary.

Weight under 250 grams

With a takeoff weight of 249 grams, the A1 remains below the limit for recreational registration requirements in many countries. This facilitates use but does not exempt you from compliance with national regulations such as altitude limits or no-fly zones.

The payload detection system is designed to prevent launches if the drone has been modified or equipped with additional cargo. According to the manufacturer, this serves safety purposes and is intended to make it more difficult to misuse the drone for purposes other than military use.

Co-creation program launched

Antigravity is supporting the market launch with a co-creation program. Interested creators can apply to test a pre-production version. The devices will be tested in practical use, and feedback and suggestions will be incorporated into series production after the company selects them.

The best ideas will receive a share of the $20.000 prize money. Applications are available via the website www.antigravity.tech is possible.
